Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about corporate, commercial and financial translation

Corporate translation focuses on a company’s document and communication needs, including corporate records, human resources documents, policies and corporate correspondence. Commercial translation covers contracts, quotations, invoices, orders, import documents and export documents. Financial translation relates to financial content such as balance sheets, income statements, audit reports and investor reports. These areas may be combined within the same project. The translator selection, terminology, numerical checks and confidentiality plan are determined according to the scope of the files.

Trade registry records, articles of association, certificates of activity, authorised signatory lists, board resolutions and other corporate records can be translated. The company name, registration number, signatory authority and share capital information are rendered accurately. Requirements for sworn translation, notarisation or international legalisation specified by the destination country and receiving institution are assessed in advance. Commercial contracts, quotations, specifications, invoices, pro forma invoices, orders, import and export documents, customs documents, tender files and qualification documents may also be included in the service. All appendices, the target language, intended use and required delivery format should be provided in advance.

Yes. During translation, figures, ratios, dates, currencies, unit scales and footnote references are compared with the source file. Decimal and thousands separators and date formats are handled so that they do not cause ambiguity in the target language. Source amounts, exchange rates and financial results are not changed arbitrarily. Any discrepancies identified are reported for confirmation. This is a translation quality check and does not constitute an accounting audit or financial assessment.

If the document uses the IFRS/UFRS or TMS/TFRS reporting framework, the relevant terminology, version information and target language are incorporated into the translation plan. Company-approved terms, previous reports and current official sources are reviewed for consistency. The reporting framework and any specific terminology preferences should be provided at the start of the project. The translation service does not provide an audit opinion on whether the financial report complies with accounting standards.

Yes. Text in Word, Excel and PowerPoint files can be translated. Headings, tables, cells and slide structures are preserved as far as possible. Excel formulas, links, embedded objects and protected areas are assessed before work begins. The areas to be translated are identified, with care taken to preserve the file’s functionality. Any additional formatting required for complex layouts is communicated in advance. The extent to which a PDF layout can be preserved depends on the structure and quality of the source file. Scanned documents may require text recognition or reformatting, and an identical appearance may not always be possible because of differences in target-language text length. The delivery format and formatting scope are agreed in advance.

Terminology lists and translation memories may be used according to the needs of the project. Company-approved terminology, product names and previous translations support consistency. The files to be used, responsibility for updates and data-sharing conditions are agreed in advance. Repetitions stored in the translation memory are also checked in context. Previous translations are not automatically assumed to be correct.

Yes. For corporate projects, a non-disclosure agreement tailored to the parties’ requirements can be signed. The information to be protected, access permissions, obligations of subcontractors and retention conditions are clarified in advance. If the client has its own draft agreement, it may be submitted for review. Completing the agreement before translation begins ensures that the scope of work and confidentiality expectations are clear.

The translation price is calculated according to the language pair, text volume, field of expertise, file legibility, delivery schedule and formatting requirements. Sworn translation, notarisation and additional services also affect the scope. After reviewing your document, we prepare a quote specifying which charges are included. General prices provided before the document is reviewed may not constitute a final quotation. The field of expertise, revision scope, repeated content, desktop publishing, project coordination and requested additional services are clarified during the quotation stage.

First, the document volume, languages, file types, fields of expertise and deadlines are assessed together. The project contact, team, terminology, approval workflow and quality checks are then defined. Where suitable, phased delivery and a section-based schedule may be planned. A project-specific quote can be prepared for high-volume assignments based on the total scope of the files. The number of languages, repeated content, field of expertise, file format and delivery schedule are assessed together. Volume alone does not result in a fixed discount rate. By reviewing the files as a complete set, we can provide project-specific pricing that includes quality control and a delivery plan. If new files are added or the scope changes, the price and delivery plan are reconfirmed.

The requirement depends on the intended use of the document, the destination country and the current rules of the receiving institution. The same certification is not automatically required for every corporate, commercial or financial text. Not every sworn translation needs to be notarised. Some institutions accept the signature and stamp of a sworn translator, while others also require notarisation. Institutions abroad may apply different translation and certification requirements. Checking the acceptance requirements before work begins reduces the risk of unnecessary expense and document re-preparation. Any need for additional legalisation or extra copies is assessed before translation begins, together with the institution’s requirements.
